I’m 25 this year, and recalling my actions and decisions back at 23, perhaps I wouldn’t have committed them now as when I was then.

Back then, I was eager, ambitious and impatient. I wished I could grow up the very next day. I liked taking short-cuts.

These days, I learnt that certain things in life cannot be rushed. There is an order and a system on how things work, and at most times, patience pays.

Though I’m still impatient now, this is a stage where I tried to shed this skin of impatience and learning to take things one step at a time. Thus, on many an occasion, this is completely frustrating and at the same time, regretful.

Alas, why did I do things I did back then?

I should have waited.

Not big wham-bang surprises, but those that pops by now and then. Of course, more than I can ever ask for, and extremely excited to start my 2012.

Unlike most years, I started 2011 with no idea of what lies ahead. I tendered my first resignation, and could only plan my days up to February(my last day at the job). Any further than that, I had no idea.

I simply rolled along and found myself studying my ass off for an intensively packed semester at my course, sent a couple of emails and landed a stint with DB, met new people, made new friends. Teach like I never did at Lewin Education. Travelled to various destinations with friends and family, partied like there’s no tomorrow. Got my driver’s license, rode on a yatch, tried diving. Threw out my desires to be an auditor, got a new job.

I guess it’s a little bit of low-expectations-high-satisfaction happening here, but hey, it’s been a good year alright! There’s also lots of growth, change in perspectives and tightening of bonds.

So, thank you 2011, for the pops of surprises. I’m pretty glad to end the year right where I am now.

2012 would hopefully be a year of stability and consistency, through which I need to get better and be more focused at what I’m doing. Hopefully, write more.
